Milk Crate #112

Milk Crater is a music blog with a charitable twist. Every time you listen to a song or watch a video on our site, we make a donation to Direct Relief International — one of the leading medical relief charities in the world. We find the music, you groove it up, and Direct Relief does the rest. By proxy, you save lives by discovering new music with us.

We’re not saying that’s the greatest idea ever, but we’re also not saying it’s not.

1“Moonstone” – Lonely Benson

Genre: Chill out

I follow a playlist on Spotify called “Calm Down.” Why isn’t this the first song on the playlist? It’s laid back and entertaining, perfect for a snifter of whisky or glass of wine. Lonely Benson lets you feel like you’re the architect of your own atmosphere — stars to soil.

2“I’ma Loser” – Pale Ale & the Consumer

Genre: Alternative Hip-Hop

Remember how every Shwayze song sounded like the best Summertime party ever? Pale Ale & the Consumer have that addicting smooth flow/catchy chorus format locked in. Grab the longboard and a Kona Longboard and savor the last few warm days of 2016.

3“With You Tonight” – Summer Moon

Genre: Shoegaze

Another one to entice your newly acquired side-to-side head wobble. There’s nothing I can say about this song that the beat and groove don’t already shout. Simply wonderful.

4“Creature Double Feature” – Mojave Nomads

Genre: Indie

Mojave Nomads have that sense of musical brilliance that is unmistakable — “Creature Double Feature” is no exception. Step one was dumbfoundedness that you founded-them-edness. Step two is getting up out of your chair and dancing a jig. Killer guitar solo too. Hot Licks. Crushing tone.

5“U Are” – Sex Panther (Remix)

Genre: EDM

Disclaimer for all: I don’t have an ear for EDM. But it doesn’t take a genius to know that this one shows heaps of promise. It couples a steady beat with total musical charisma for an overall massive sound. Would it be too cliché to say that 60% of the time it works every time? Well it does.
